It is a great pleasure to invite you to take an active part in EORS 2016, the 24th Annual Meeting of the European Orthopaedic Research Society, that will take place in Bologna, Italy, on 14-16 September 2016.
The Istituto Ortopedico Rizzoli, a landmark in orthopaedic science and practice since its foundation in 1896, and the University of Bologna, whose origin dates back for more than 900 years, will -be the ideal setting for a memorable event that intends to provide a platform for a state-of-the-art interdisciplinary and intersectorial communication and friendly interaction in orthopaedic science, technology, and education. For the second time in 10 years, it is a honour to host the annual meeting of the European Orthopaedic Research Society in Bologna.
The social and economic needs of the European society impose us a careful consideration on the emerging challenges of sustainability of healthcare costs, and as scientists committed to find solutions to musculoskeletal conditions, our action should be finalized to be effective both in terms of healthcare sustainability and technological development. Our vision looks forward to the next generations of scientists who dedicate to orthopaedic science. Committment of young investigators, awareness of societal challenges and career flexibility are added values that deserve consideration in future educational programs. These themes will permeate EORS 2016 and will be the special focus of a Conference on Societal Challenges and Innovative Solutions in Orthopaedic Research, that will take place after the meeting on September 17, 2016 and to which all of you are cordially encouraged to participate.
To be effective, it is important to amplify and synergise knowledge and actions in full cooperation with the whole spectrum of the scientific community. We are very glad to acknowledge the contribution of the European Society of Biomechanics and the European Society for Biomaterials to EORS 2016.
The town of Bologna will honor its reputation of hospitality, superb food, and easy life, and is keen to offer you a warm welcome.
